“Want to make the 2017 International Mersey River Festival on the Waterfront the best ever? Join the Club!”

I would like to personally welcome you as a member of the 100 Club, an initiative that has my total support and backing. It has always been my vision to celebrate Liverpool’s Trading and Seafaring heritage and to further exploit the potential of the City’s magnificent waterfront. The dhalf-cont-area-x325px-1evelopment of this newly created concept, will set the stage and present a platform to build on these ambitions. With your support, we aim to develop and deliver, a World Class Annual Cities River Festival, building international relationships with other ports and maritime cities for tourism and business benefit. One of my early pledges was to bring the International Mersey River Festival back and it has proved an outstanding success, attracting over 200,000 visitors each year to the City. The 2016 event was one of our great success stories, with over 200,000 visitors & delivering an economic impact of £13m.

2016 was the second year of the Mayoral 100 Club and I was delighted so many companies, from such a diverse range of industries, signed up to support this initiative. This demonstrates there is a real appetite for external organisations to support our cultural event programmes and maintain the vibrancy of our city. 2016 was proof that this business model really works and gives businesses from all sizes the opportunity to promote their brand with a vibrant international cultural event as the backdrop. My ambition is for our 2016/17 season of the Mayoral 100 Club to become bigger, better, and highly engaging for great B2B networking, B2C opportunities whilst investing in this wonderful city.

The 2017 event, planned for the weekend of 23rd – 25th June 2017, will showcase the city and waterfront at its best with an even bigger and better programme of events as a result of your generous investment. This positive economic impact benefits the city, creates jobs and generates an overall feel good factor in the community.

I am really delighted that so many companies, from such a diverse range of industries, have signed up so far, which demonstrates there is a real appetite for external organisations to support our cultural event programmes. I look forward to welcoming even more organisations over the coming months and to meeting with you in the year ahead.

Joe Anderson OBE, Mayor of Liverpool
